Time of Our Lives- Dirty Dancing Themed Eyeshadow Palette To Be Released

Dirty Dancing is inarguably a classic we won’t be forgetting anytime soon and the possibility of a dirty-dancing themed eyeshadow palette has got all fashion-lovers excited.

Sola Look, the Boston-based Indie beauty brand that released the successful Flash Dance palette in September revealed  on its instagram page it will be releasing a shadow set inspired by this classic movie.

Though the palette isn’t scheduled for release until next year, (which coincidentally marks 30 years since the release of the movie), the brand is accepting suggestions for color picks on Instagram. Among those being considered are peach and brown-based neutrals, plus a few bolder hues, like purple and aquamarine.
Suggestions for shade names are also pouring in.

Instagram user @Hairbymigs said, “will there be a color called baby??? And will it be in the corner???? You gotta name one ‘Time of your life’ and one ‘She’s Like the wind’.”

The brand confirmed that there will be a color called “Baby” and it’ll be taking center stage in the palette: “It will be more so in the middle. We’re trying to get her out of that corner that she’s been stuck in for the last 30 years.”

This announcement sure gives us something to look forward to in 2017, and we’ll be counting down the days to its release!

Beyoncé Ups Her Courtside Shoe Game With Vetements

Were there two games happening last night at the NBA season opener in Oakland? Sure, the crowd was going wild for the heated on-court action between the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs. But sitting courtside upon the unicorn-printed heel of Vetements’s green Lurex sock boots, Beyoncé was boasting a worship-worthy shoe game herself. In fact, with her outré footwear choice, she proved that spectator chic isn’t limited to sneakers alone.

The oversize camo Ivy Park parka the singer wore with her signature denim cutoffs was just as statement-making as the custom DIY Gucci bomber she sported to last month’s Dallas Cowboys game. Keeping her eye-skimming Formation World Tour hat low—the same hat her mini-me, Blue Ivy, recently wore—and her Gucci bamboo-handled Dionysus bag tucked underneath her seat, Beyoncé let her Lurex-shod feet take the spotlight. And that’s the kind of fancy footwork that’s bound to be a crowd-pleaser, on and off the court.

Katy Perry Stuns in Champagne Gown at Star-Studded Children’s Hospital L.A. Fundraising Gala

Katy Perry looked like a million bucks at the star-studded Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Once Upon a Time Gala on Saturday, where the stunning singer performed for a good cause.
Perry shined in semi-sheer champagne gown adorned with beaded flower embellishments while walking the red carpet at the L.A. Live Event Deck.

She also stopped and smiled for the cameras alongside Frozen star Josh Gad and Drew Barrymore, who looked classically elegant in a long, black ensemble.

ET’s Lauren Zima caught up with Perry at the gala, where she opened up about why she felt it was important to come out and support the hospital.

“I had a life-changing experience of my own when I got to visit the Children’s Hospital in December,” Perry, 31, explained. “I got to see their music therapy program, which is basically where a bunch of musicians come and play to patients. They play to premature babies in the NICU up to adults, all of it.”
“I had such a profound personal experience that I was like, ‘Of course, whatever you need. If I can help you raise money or funds or get eyeballs to the Children’s Hospital, I’ll do it,'” she continued. “So that’s why I’m here.”
Perry didn’t just lend her presence to the event, she also sang live for those who came out to the annual fundraiser. Donning a frilly, light-pink gown, Perry played a short set, which included her hits “Roar,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework” and “Dark Horse.”

After wrapping up her performance with an emotional rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” Perry was presented with a bouquet of flowers by a young boy named Caiden Moran, who is deaf. Perry gave Caiden a kiss on the cheek and used sign language to say, “I love you.”

Perry, Barrymore and Gad were among many big-name guests at the event, which also included Jessica Capshaw, Jamie Lee Curtis, Katharine McPhee, Eric Stonestreet, Holly Robinson Peete and Luc Robitaille, among others.

Back in June, Perry traveled to Vietnam in her role as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, where she fought to raise awareness about the plight of economically disadvantaged children who are left behind even as the country’s economy grows.

Why is GTBank Organizing a Fashion Event, and Why Should I Attend?

The GTBank Fashion Weekend may seem novel for a financial institution, but it is part of the bank’s long history of supporting the local fashion industry.

Foremost African financial institution, Guaranty Trust Bank plc, last week announced the debut of the GTBank Fashion Weekend, set to hold on the 12th and 13th of November 2016, at the GTCentre, Oniru, Victoria Island.

With the bank being the first financial institution to pioneer such initiative, it is important to understand its motive for organizing such an event and necessary to know what guests will gain from attending.

Why
is GTBank Organizing a Fashion Weekend?

Perhaps the short answer is: To promote enterprise in the SME sector of the Fashion industry. The not-so-short answer would begin with the fact that GTBank actually has an extensive footprint in fashion that goes back several years. The bank has sponsored two of the country’s leading fashion events, The Arise Fashion Week and The Lagos Fashion and Design Week, for a combined period of five years.

The bank has also contributed significantly to raising the international profile of African fashion through collaborations including the Ndani Installation at Selfridges and the “Double Club” Collaboration with PRADA.

The GTBank Fashion Weekend is thus an extension of the bank’s long tradition of supporting the local fashion industry and African fashion in general.

However, the Weekend extravaganza is much bigger than whatever the bank has done in the past to support Fashion because it not only aims to celebrate African fashion but to directly boost both the expertise and exposure of small businesses and create a platform that will truly serve the stakeholders in the fashion industry.

As Mr Segun Agbaje, the Managing Director of GTBank, puts it, “[it is all about] growing SMEs in a sustainable manner that is not driven by profits but focused on empowering our customers and growing our economy collectively.”

At the core of the Weekend are fashion MasterClasses, where entrepreneurs will have the unique opportunity to interact with and learn from global fashion industry leaders, and Retail Exhibitions which will showcase the wares of dozens of SMEs within the fashion industry for patronage from guests.

An example of how effective retail exhibitions can be is seen in the very successful GTBank Food and Fair held in May where over 25,000 guests helped over 100 SMEs achieve record sales of their products.

Why Should I Attend the GTBank Fashion Weekend?

Again, the simple short answer: The Weekend will provide the ultimate fashion experience that anyone intrinsically interested in Fashion cannot afford to miss.

For the longer version of that answer, think of the GTBank Fashion Weekend as a perfect blend of the glitz and glamour of fashion with the vibrancy of trade fairs and the enlightenment of workshops.

Attending the event will not only get you thrilled, but also leave you thoroughly entertained and greatly empowered, all of which will cost you absolutely nothing.

Given that the Weekend is positioned as a sequel to the GTBank Food and Fair, one thing that you are sure to be treated to is an awesome atmosphere dense only with a spectacular array of top personalities and industry leaders.

Just as the Food and Drink fair brought together critically acclaimed international chefs, the GTBank Fashion Weekend will pack a punch of fashpacks – from world renowned fashion personalities to globally recognised brand owners, trend setters and designers.

These fashion aficionados will all join together to make your experience of the Entrepreneurial and Fashion MasterClasses, Retail Exhibitions, and glamorous Runway Shows a memorable one.

At the fashion MasterClasses, you will have the direct opportunity to interact with and learn from local and international fashion industry leaders. With the MasterClasses themed Promoting Enterprise, expect to learn a lot about how to make a profitable business out of fashion.

As well as being treated to a sizzling series of Runway shows featuring collections by renowned Nigerian and international luxury brands, expect also to enjoy an amazing showcase of a diverse range of affordable and luxury apparel, footwear, accessories, beauty items, and much more from budding indigenous SMEs.

Ultimately, the GTBank Fashion Weekend is one that you cannot afford to miss not only because of the fun-filled and memorable it will be, but also because of the significant boost that it will give to SMEs involved in Fashion and the fashion industry in general.
